Butterfly Marketing - What is It?

Butterfly Marketing is a concept based on the chaos theory whereby a tiny change like a butterfly beating it's wings in one part of the world will create a gradual momemtum which could theoretically create a tidal wave on the other side of the planet.

Butterfly Marketing Information

Butterfly Marketing is viral marketing - utilising the ripple effect or the power of small incremental changes to create momentum.  Mike Filsaimes's strategy is excellent  for internet marketing as you have the power of millions of potential people you can reach out to. The trick is to find a narrow focus so that your target is clearly in focus, as opposed to going for a scatter gun approach and trying to hit anything and everything.

It's important to remember that your internet marketing efforts are all about sales - and looking at what bricks and mortar stores do will give you a clue as to how you should approach the task. You don't see supermarkets selling high ticket items such as diamond rings and you don't see jewellery shops selling baby clothes.

It is important in internet marketing as in any type of sales that you identify and understand your target market. It would be pointless for example to create a website which sells thermal underwear and try to market it in Hawaii or  to sell surfboards to Switzerland. The WWW. is as big as the world and the users of the web are are the most diverse group you can target. This is both good and bad. Good in the sense that you have a huge variety of products, demographics and countries to choose from  - bad in the sense that without a clear game plan and target you wlll likely waste your efforts by aiming too wide.

This is why it is necessary to do your research thoroughly, find a market then narrow that market down to the smallest window you can which still has a reasonable amount of potential buyers. Once you have done all these things then you can put the power of Butterfly Marketing to work for you. The method will only work once you have a targetted audience on which to unleash the viral marketing effect.

Internet Marketing Information

There is a lot more to becoming successful in  internet marketing than merely reading an ebook or purchasing a turnkey website solution. It is necessary to absolutely understand the matrix of searchers and search providers such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. The search engines have many and varied requirements which need to be met before your website or PPC advertising will be successful. Affiliate marketers who simply put up a site or blog with information and an affiliate link imbedded will not be rewarded with a plance on the front pages of the search engines and that spells near certain death to any website. Tens of thousands of websites sit in obscurity each day in the boondocks of search engine land never to be found by a visitor with money to spend.

There is an old saying which goes "if it seems to be too good to be true - it probably is" and this applies very much to online marketing. Too good to be true products which offer thousands of dollars per day with the click of a mouse or while you sleep are not realistic. Certainly many internet marketers make an excellent living, many make millions of dollars each year and others are on the path to financial independance thanks to their internet marketing efforts. However, the vast majority of these people, if not all of them have spent many hundreds of hours learning their craft. They did not simply open a box or download a course and have money come flooding into their bank accounts overnight.

Learning internet marketing is like learning any new skill. It requires patience and application.  Many newbie or wannabe online marketers fall by the wayside as the complexities and frustrations get the better of them - those who perservere and succeed are well placed to continue leading the pack if they keep on top of industry changes and adapt accordingly. The industry is coming under increasing scrutiny by Government bodies such as the FTC and this is good news for consumers and also for those marketers treat marketing as a profession not a get rich quick scheme.

What is Internet Marketing?

Internet Marketing is a term which refers to promoting and or selling products either physical or digital and services through the medium of the internet.  This type of online marketing has grew steadily through the first decade of 2000 with a massive increase in both online sellers and buyers in the past 3-4 years.  There are many ways to go about conducting online marketing -  from using paid search via search engines (Google or Yahoo) Pay Per Click or PPC,  to using your internet skill so to drive free traffic to your offers. This skillset is termed SEO or search engine optimisation. Both these methods are complex and require time and effort to master them and there is no "quick fix" or magic formula to success.

Although this may not be what you have heard or wish to hear - the best way to learn and succeed at internet marketing is the same as with most things in life. Work hard and practice. There are some excellent courses available to help you learn the skills you require and there are also some very poor information being sold to the unsuspecting "newbie".  Luckily over the past 2 or 3 years software has evolved at a fast rate and has become much easier and intuitive, which means that learning much of the daunting technology is not necessary. These days websites are built on autopilot using free software such as WordPress or any number of open source website builders.

Likewise, HTML is a snap these days and many online marketers don't know it and don't care as it is not a requirement as WYSWYG (what you see is what you get) editors take care of all the HTML editing in the background. Image editing, video production, article writing and ebook creation have become almost push button too. Having said that, none of these tools or simplifications will help you if you don't understand the basics of how search engines operate and how you must structure your content in order to have it placed in front of your potential customers.

What is Butterfly Marketing?

Butterfly Marketing  is a term coined by the internet marketer Mike Filsaime around 4 years ago.   The butterfly reference  comes from the famous "chaos theory" of the 1980's.  It's a zen concept which says that the flutter of a single butterfly can have a ripple effect all over the world. So, one tiny movement or change can multiply into a tidal wave of change.

Butterfly marketing is built around this concept and even though the product may be out of date now, as every month or even week a new internet marketing product is launched - the principals still apply.  Mike Filsaime hooked into a method of making small incremental changes to websites and other internet marketing methods in order to create much larger surges of traffic as the net effect grew.  He called this the Viral Exponent or Vx measurement of growth over time. His Butterfly Marketing Manuscript which explained how this works was a best seller on Clickbank for quite some time.
The Butterfly method provided automated tools which helped internet marketers to create websites and membership sites quickly and easily.  The power of this type of viral marketing is demonstrated by web 2.0 applications such as Twitter, Facebook and Utube where the growth factor (or Vx) is exponential. What begins as a small rumble grows to a deafening roar as more people attract even more.

Internet marketing tactics and products change rapidly and the software provided with the initial offering of Butterfly Marketing would not be out-dated. Technology has advanced very quickly in the area of online marketing over the past 12 months and membership site softeware is now relatively cheap and readily available. However, the basic premise of the Butterfly method still holds good as it is based on hard mathematical data which has proven that ever increasing small changes can create an eventual surge. Some of today's most popular internet marketers or "gurus" as they like to be known are Frank Kern, Anik Singal and Jeff Walker - who have recently taken the running from Mike Filsaime who has not released an updated version of Butterfly Marketing for quite some time.
